The system central part was deployed on the MIAC servers of the Tyumen region, where a central archive of medical images was organized based on the Makhaon DICOM Archive software.
Today, the system includes 4 municipalities of Tyumen and the Tyumen region:
- Regional Clinical Hospital No. 2 (Tyumen),
- Regional hospital No. 3 (Tobolsk),
- Regional hospital No. 23 (Yalutorovsk),
- Regional hospital No. 4 (Ishim).
All MOs have been connected to diagnostic equipment - Toshiba CT scanners and have their own full-fledged local PACS system, which includes:
1. "Makhaon DICOM Archive" for local storage, as well as managing the transfer of images;
2. "Doctor's workstation Makhaon: Tomography 3D" for full-fledged work with images, incl. to work in the telemedicine system;
3. "Viewing stations Makhaon NetLite" for the access possibility to the DICOM Archive of an unlimited authorized participants number in the medical and diagnostic process in a medical facility;
4. "Makhaon Worklist Manager" for PACS integration with existing medical information system, incl. to transfer a patients lists assigned to examinations to the diagnostic devices console.
The main advantage of the implemented solution is to combine the concepts of central and distributed medical images storage. This approach compares favorably with the common idea of exclusively centralized storage, as it allows:
Ensure the diagnostic studies availability where they were performed, regardless of whether there is a connection with the central archive. At the same time, the speed of access to these studies will be determined by the bandwidth of the local Moscow Region network, which is usually at least 100 Mb/s.
It is regulated to carry out the studies transfer stored in the local archives of the Moscow Region, i.e. send studies to the central archive according to a schedule or after a certain time has elapsed.
Provide enhanced storage reliability. In the project, the rules for sending and storing studies were configured in such a way that for a certain time all studies are duplicated - on the local Archives of the Moscow Region and on the central Archive. After this time, research remains only in the central archive of the region.
To increase the access speed to research in those MOs where these studies have been carried out, i.e. do not request them from the central archive and do not deliver them through communication channels with low throughput characteristics.
Provide access to research in a diagnostic capacity for all participants in the diagnostic process, regardless of their location and affiliation with the medical organization.
